I established BM Nyman & Co as a niche firm of solicitors on 1 January 1999, concentrating on my specialist areas of work, namely:

• Publishing, concentrating particularly on drafting and negotiating publishing contracts, both for publishers and authors, and also for literary agents in dealing with contracts outside of their primary area of experience;
• Intellectual Property - especially copyright, trade marks and confidentiality; and
• Defamation - primarily clearing material for publication with particular regard to defamation risks.

I have acted for some of the largest publishers (as well as some of the smallest) and for some of the most established authors (as well as first-time authors) – and all sorts in between. Because I am a one-person specialist firm, I offer a cost-effective service to clients both large and small, and I appreciate that all clients -- irrespective of their size or reputation -- are important.

I offer clients my personal attention and the assurance that their work will be carried out by myself and not delegated to a junior assistant (as often happens in larger firms).
